Túnel Central - bodywork - continuação

Deixo as imagens falarem por si, as fotografias estão expostas por ordem crescente, espero que se consiga perceber com clareza o que foi feito e como foi feito.

O túnel central fica localizado por cima da caixa de velocidades e transferências e como viram no tópico anterior, tinha muita gordura e óleo de há muitos anos a proteger parte da chapa.
Foi raspada antes de ser limpa, logicamente.
A parte que não esteve em contacto directo com o óleo, as tais laterais que aparecem nas fotografias e que ligam aos footwells, apodreceram.

Às vezes não é nada mau ter estas camadas de óleo a preservar a chapa.

The centre tunnel is screwed in place on top of the gearbox and transfer box, as you seen on some previous photos, there was a lot of grease and oil protecting that area from beneath, keeping it from rusting. It was all scraped before cleaning.
The areas that weren't covered with oil and residue rotten out, as you can see on the side edges that connect to the footwells.

Sometimes it's not bad at all to have a little oil covering your sheet metal, protecting it from corrosion."

Algum trabalho de chapa - bodywork

Algumas peças para o jacto de areia :) algum progresso, espero que gostem.

" Some parts for sand-blasting, slight progress. I hope you enjoy it"

Aqui temos a chapa de matrícula velha e a respectiva reprodução.

Creio que ficou muito bem, mesmo não estando finalizada, é um bom começo, não acham?

Estou bastante satisfeito.

Aqui temos já algumas peças decapadas, outras, decapadas e metalizadas como é o caso dos pára-choques e da ventoinha do motor.
"Here we have some parts that went to the process of sand-blasting, others were galvanized like the bumpers and engine fan"

Aqui podemos ver o túnel central com as laterais completamente roídas, depois de ter sido limpo por jacto de areia.

Inlet manifold and carburetor overhaul - part 1

Comecei a preparar-me para re-condicionar os carburadores e achei que faria sentido, tratar de tudo de uma só vez. Assim fiz.

Peguei no colector de admissão, sendo que os carburadores já estão desmontados, e comecei a desmontar tudo peça por peça, fotografando à medida que ia fazendo.
"I started preparing myself to recondition my carburettors, since i was planning to go through all that i decided to deal with it all. So i did.
I took the inlet manifold and disassembled it piece by piece, photographing as i went through it."

À medida que ia desmontando, ia-me deparando com cenários deste género:
"during the whole process i encountered things like this...rust"

O lixo misturado com ferrugem, por sua vez misturado com coisas que nem sei o que são!

O colector precisa de uma valente lavagem e tratamento decente.
"This needs to be cleaned as soon as possible"

Resultado? Três parafusos partidos e dois que requerem mais cuidado para remover, mas essencialmente, ferramentas adequadas à sua remoção.

Consequência? Uma ida ao torneiro, uns furos, roscas novas e faciar a superfície.
"Three broken screws, unbelievable.
What now? Well this needs to be handled by a professional, 3 new holes, 3 new screws...let's see how it turns out. I'll talk about later"

É essencial ir catalogando as peças! Nunca se sabe o que vai ser preciso e se algumas das peças ainda se encontram disponíveis, novas!

Mais novidades para breve (muitas peças a caminho)

Entretanto, a limpar:

- colector de admissão: micro esferas de vidro

- carburadores: ultrasons 

"Don't make the mistake of thinking you will deal with it later, you won't. As you go through something, always make a record of it. Photographs, part numbers, bags, pen...all you need is discipline and patience. Some parts are unavailable even though many are still available from any land rover dealer.
