Hoje foi um dia de más notícias, tudo até agora tinha corrido bem, o material tinha-se revelado são e apto a mais uns valentes anos, até que cheguei ao diferencial do eixo da frente e me deparei com está representado nas fotografias abaixo.

* grupo cónico e "pinion gear" danificados, sendo que no "pinion gear" tem um rolamento cónico desfeito, certamente causado por más manutenções. A roda de croa do grupo cónico tem um dente lascado numa ponta (mal se nota a olho nu), terá sido provocado pelos cilindros do rolamento cónico, do "pinion gear", que andavam livremente pelo diferencial.
*" Crown wheel and pinion gear shot out, the pinion gear bearing collapsed, certainly a sign of poor maintenance, at least on the front axle. The crown wheel has one of the teeth completely cut off, you can barely see it if you dont examine the part with care. It was caused by one the bearing´s cylinders running free when the bearing collapsed while driving, surely."
Conclusão: comprar um diferencial novo, de preferência um conjunto completo.

Notas importantes.

* ambos os diferenciais ( frente e tras) são idênticos, o que facilita muita vezes a procura por um diferencial bom.
* Range Rovers de 1970-1986, os diferenciais são iguais e compatíveis ( penso ter sido em 1986 que mudou o "layout" do diferencial, facto que mais tarde comprovo).
Bem como que existe diffs de unidade metrica ou imperial de 10 ou 24 "spline".
* Os Velar têm diferenciais diferentes, possivelmente forjados na fábrica"* both front and rear diffs are exactly the same, which makes it quite easy to find at a good price
* Range Rovers from 1970-86 have the same diffs, i think 86 was the year they changed the layout, im not 100% sure, i´ll check later. There are imperial or metric diffs, 10 or 24 splines, make sure you buy the right one!
* Velars have different diffs, but then again, they are a different ball game"

No entanto, temos os 2 eixos e o chassis prontos para ir decapar. Às parece impossível encontrar aspectos positivos num dia que corre mal.
